Procurement Manager

Eurogate Logistics Ltd, a family owned international transportation & logistics forwarding company based in London with branch offices in UK, PL, HU, CZ, NL & RUS, has decided to improve its procurement methods and procedures in the UK and establish a new role of Procurement Manager in our Leeds office, who will become instrumental in optimizing and strengthening sourcing, relationships, performance and risk management of the carriers.

The job

The job

  • Own all Full Truck Load (FTL) procurement-related activities for Eurogate offices in London, Leeds and Glasgow
  • Work closely with Logistics Operations and Sales to support their goals and initiatives from procurement perspective, i.e. capacity, commercial terms, service quality assurance, etc.
  • Analyze historical data and freight pay data to verify changes, anomalies or new opportunities within the network
  • Improve supplier qualification, compliance, risk and claims management practices
  • Optimize and consolidate existing carrier portfolio; segment, rationalize and develop a diverse carrier base
  • Create, manage, update and maintain rate database and rate schedules; benchmark rates for new lanes
  • Conduct carrier bids, analyze rates and carrier selections; make decisions on awards while remaining compliant with the overall sourcing strategy and business needs of every individual Eurogate location
  • Onboard new carriers to the customer network
  • Develop visible carrier KPIs and overall performance dashboard
  • Develop and manage carrier relationships, performance and problem solving
The skills

The skills

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years of combined experience in carrier procurement and logistics/operations
  • Solid understanding of international transportation carrier contracts; cost and rate structure; insurance requirements and claims management
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Availability to travel 5-10% of the time
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills
  • Multi-lingual (Polish preferable)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment
